Levana & the others | Her hands quickly and lithely went over the soft cheeks of the girl, poking her gently before moving to where her lymph nodes were. Levana made a 'Huh' sound and got the girl to swallow. "Did that hurt?" she asked.
The young child nodded. "A little, yes," she murmured softly.
Levana smiled at her and let go of her. "It's okay - you've just got a bit of a cold. Your lymph nodes are inflamed." That word was entirely foreign to the girl, who looked at the human quizzically. Levana paused, thinking. "You have mucus, in your throat. It will pass. But, here - Adaman!"
There was silence, before the trapdoor above her head opened and the head healer poked his head out. "You called?" he asked.
She looked up and put her dainty hand out. "Could you pass me some crushed ert leaves? The dry kind?"
Adaman nodded and disappeared into the roof for a moment, before passing a soft fabric bag. Levana said thank you before passing it to the girl, as well as slipping her a white tablet. "Take both of those to your parents. They're... Gerik and Bera, right?" The girl nodded. "At dinner I'll explain to them the tea for you. But the tablet you can take yourself. Just some water to wash it down, you know how to do it."
The girl eyed the tablet suspiciously, but Levana had never given them any reason to doubt her. So she smiled, hopped up and left. Adaman dangled his legs out from the roof and then jumped onto the floor beside her. "That was good," he said, "I think I'll leave the children to you. Or Hari. Either way."
Levana smiled, before there was a scraping on the door. She looked at Adaman, who nodded. "Come in," she said, and smiled as she saw the leader climb through the hole. "Good morning."
"There he is. I wondered where you were," Adaman smiled at his brother as they stood under the large dome roof.
Levana looked at the leader. "Is Truman any better?" She was worried about the little baby - he had gotten a fever overnight, which had put all three of them on high alert. Ka'ja, having decided to go visit her sister however, wasn't present.
Ta'em| The past few weeks with the humans seemed to be going smoothly, well all besides Levana, But after they made some clothing that fit her and as soon as Adaman warmed upto her, everything was alright. "Woah!" he almost yelped as a child rushed out of Adamans house, eadger to play to the best of her ability, she looked sick though as she turned to apologize to her leader before running off again, he breifly wondered if Adaman and Levana would approve of her running around. Ta'em shook his head lightly and walked inside the home. "Morning" he greeted both of them in return, he was about to tell them about the running child before Levana got her words in first, he didn't let his face change as he shook his head ever so slightly. "No, he still has a fever and from when i checked on them, he wasn't settling down" he said as he walked towards Adaman. "You know a girl almost knocked me over as she ran out of here?" he asked him, it wasn't the point of if he knew or not, it was more of a 'Should she really be running around?' And since she was one of the children, he almost asumed Adaman was the one who was treating her, He had no idea how much Levana has been helping out in here recently. -d
Levana & the others | "My goodness," Adaman breathed low, looking at his brother with a mischevious glint in his eye. He'd made it too simple. "Ta'em Tsan'ten, getting beat by a little girl. What would the tribe say?"
Levana turned her head away, determined not to laugh, and she didn't as her eyes alighted on an earthen pot. She went closer to it, sniffed it, and then opened it. "Adaman! Isn't this rook?" she asked.
The male leaned back and peered over at it. "Yes. Why?"
But she had already gotten a scoop - which she had begun to make Adaman use instead of his hands - and took out some, putting it in a little bag and then passing it to Ta'em. "This might help if it's brewed into a tea," she said, "But if you'd like I can come and see him tonight."
Adaman wondered if Ta'em would actually take her up on the offer. They seemed to get along, but Ta'em never let anyone treat him besides Adaman. He wouldn't take offense if his brother did let her, but he would be awfully surprised.-d
Ta'em| The very dark grey male looked at Adaman, trying his best not to show anything annoyance.. it failed as he narrowed his eyes at him, almost a death stare. "You're lucky you're my brother" he stated, dismissing him as he turned to look at Levana who had moved to a brewing pot. He wondered what she was doing before she handed him a bag of the rook that in the pot, saying that it might help if it was brewed into a tea.. but then she asked if she could see him tonight.. which made him think had.. she was the one who delivered him though.. Ta'em looked at Adaman for a moment, almost as if he was weighing up his possiblilies, It took severl moments before he spoke. "Anything you can do will be apriciated(?)" he said, turning to Levana as he said that, Giving her permission to see his son tonight.. if he even lasted that long. "He did feel a little warmer then before though" he said almost gently, thinking hard on what to do about it. -d
Levana & the others | Now both Adaman and Levana exchanged glances. "Can I come over now, then?" Levana asked, not really giving Ta'em a choice as she slipped through the hole.
Adaman grimaced. "Better follow her," he said to his brother, "Because any higher than he was is a cause for concern."
Levana walked through the tribe, feeling greetings of everyone around her. She bathed in their acceptance. Ever since she had saved one of their members from losing his tail, and especially since Truman had been born, she had been accepted as one of their own. She wasn't sure how she felt about it, though she kept smiles up for appearances. Due to how much time she spent with Adaman and the tribe, learning from them to the point she didn't need the translator any longer, it caused some grievances with Alistair. The thought of him pricked at her heart; she was going to get it when she got home, she knew, for being out for so long.
She walked to the house, and knocked on the door. Since Ka'ja was away, Kyoki had become the woman of the household, and it was expected that she would answer the door. The eleven year old looked up at the dark skinned woman, and breathed in relief. "I hoped you'd come - he won't stop crying, no matter what I do!"
Kyoki stepped aside and Levana rushed in, wasting no time. Kyoki turned back to the door and stepped aside for her father who came in as well. The screaming baby had caused her to put some material in her ears to block it out.-d
Ta'em| For once or maybe the second time in his life.. Ta'em felt scared, Because the looks that were exchanged were ones of fear, for his sons life. "Of course?" he said as she was moving past him already, he looked at Adaman and blinked at him as he left as well, walking right behind Levana as the tribe greeted them as they walked.. Unfortently for the tribe, it was Levana who gave greetings back only, He had to much on his mind. "Kyoki" he said as he walked inside his home, glad that she answered, he placed his hand on her shoulder, he was glad she was home.. He wasn't sure what Ka'ja would be doing, or why she wasn't here for her child. "Where is your mother?" he asked her as he walked towards his son, Now seriously wasn't the time to leave her son here with only a child to look after him. -d
Keelee Hadland: Levana & the others | "Da, you know perfectly well I can never answer that!" Kyoki exclaimed exasperatedly, too stressed about her little brother to recognise her rudeness. Ka'ja was never around these days since Truman had been born. She hadn't even wanted to hold him when he was delivered. Kyoki was too young to realise that those signs were a pretty big indicator of postpartum depression. They didn't even have that term, though Levana had briefly touched on it during a science class at one stage. Not enough for it to have an impact however.
Levana was by the baby's side in seconds, and she reached into her bag to produce something. She rarely brought human medicines - strong ones - here, but she had no choice. "Kyoki?" she asked, and the young child ran over to help. "Can you hold him very, very still for me?"
Kyoki swallowed and nodded. "Yes," she said, clinging to the screaming babe as he kicked in her arms. He was deathly pale, like he had been when he was first born, but this meant something worse. Levana pulled the syringe open with her teeth and took a tiny arm, whispering soothing sounds to the child before zapping him with the laser injection.
Truman went quiet for a brief moment, before crying again. Levana hushed him softly, taking him from Kyoki. "There, there," she murmured, sitting down on the wooden floor with the baby in her arms. "You'll feel better in a few hours..."
Kyoki slowly moved backwards from the scene, going to her father. She clung to his tail, scared. What would happen if Truman didn't respond well to the medicine at all?-d
Ta'em| Ta'em turned his head to look at his daughter.. He turned his head and cursed silently as he reached the cot where Levana was, he placed a hand over his mouth, his son.. he was so pale it was sickly to just look at him, he cursed once more and this time, it was to curse Ka'ja for not being here.. He remembered the stories his mother told him.. when he was a baby, his mother did nothing but keep him close, holding him, nursing him for the full fifteen days. He remembered, when Kyoki was born that Ka'ja acted the same way as those stories, but now with Truman born.. she was no where in sight. He didn't come back to his senses until Levana pulled out a stick.. it looked like a weapon, but he knew better, seeing her use it very rarely. This was a rare moment when Ta'em showed his emotions.. he was fearful for his son, scared he would die.. and so.. so angery at his mate for not looking after him. He took in a sharp breath as he felt Kyoki cling to his tail, causing him to re-posture himself, focusing on only his anger for his mate. "Levana, Please stay and look after him" he said, She was the only one other outside his family who can one and visit during the fifteen days. Ta'em wondered where Ka'ja was, he knew when she came back, he would scold her like a child.. And for the first time in such a ver long time.. he closed his eyes, and brought his hands together, muttering a small prayer to the spirits, he hadn't need to do this in so long, Ka'ja taking his place in his prayers. -d
Levana & the others | She knew she was breaking tribal law but this was urgent. This child needed her help. She rocked and cooed with the child, hoping this would work. "I'll keep an eye on him over dinner," she told them, as it was starting to get a little lighter outside. "You better go. The tribe will wonder where you are."
Kyoki swallowed. "I'm not hungry."
Levana looked at her seriously. She glanced at Ta'em, before deciding to test Kyoki on English as she said, "/Kyoki, what did we speak about?/"
The girl hesitated. "/While we look after others, we look after ourselves too, else we won't be able to do so properly./"
"/Good./" Levana looked back to Truman, who had stopped crying and moved to a soft whimper. "Go to dinner. I'll stay here."-d
Ta'em| Ta'em was a little reluctent.. he was breakign Tribal law by letting Levana stay, But he had little choice, Ka'ja wasn't here, he hoped she will be at dinner, he would ask her if she wanted the child.. if not, he will have no choice but to give up his son to another who /will/ take care of him. "Keep him safe Levana.." he said in a rare moment of expressing himself. "Come Kyoki" he said softly, placing a hand over her shoulder. "Truman needs his rest" He didn't want to leave, but he knew the tribe had to see their leader at dinner. As he left, he glanced back before he walked towards the dinning area, his eyes scaning for his mate who was failing in her duties -d
